Blast back in time to the late 50's, as the sun sets over Mobile Bay, to the quaint town of Fairhopeville. Rock-n-roll music will fill the air as the fabulous Tip Tops will play on our very own American Bandstand in celebration of the 50th Anniversary Dauphin Island Race.
"Town Hall" will be your first stop where the Town Constable will welcome all skippers with their official race package. The Kress Five and Dime Store is close by where you will want to purchase race merchandise and other memorable items.
The "Start-Lite Drive-In Theatre" will feature "Memories", a movie about 50 years of sailing on Mobile Bay, on a large outdoor screen. You may see some famous people you know! Don't forget to visit the Concession Stand for popcorn and great Bushwacker Malts!
"Ethyl's Fillin' Station" will have gasoline on sale for 19 cents a gallon that night and that night only!....if you get there too late and she is already sold out.....go ahead'n stick around and have a beer with her anyway! The pumps will still be working!
"Patty Sue's Diner" will have the grill fired up and ready to serve your favorite burgers, hot dogs, and fries. Be sure to check out the Old Juke box.
The "Pop Shop" is a full service bar serving all of your other favorite libations.
These are just a few of the exciting things to see and do in the small town of Fairhopeville on April 25, 2008.
